Gifts for the Beer connoisseur
What do you give the beer connoisseur who has everything? Sure, he might enjoy another beer stein on his shelf (gathering dust), but perhaps you should consider a gift that would be of daily value to them and their love of beer. A connoisseur is, by definition, a discerning expert in their field. Yes, even a beer lover can be both discerning, and an expert. So let’s look at some of the potential gifts for the beer lover in your life.
Glassware. Beer is meant to be served either chilled to about 42° or at room temperature. Most beer lovers prefer one, or the other. Clear glassware is preferred by the beer connoisseur so they can admire the color and body of the beer, and how the head takes form. A set of thermal glassware might be just the thing for them, because it will keep their beer cold longer, and not affect the temperature of beer being served at room temperature.
A mini-refrigerator. A true beer lover keeps an assortment of cold beer on hand, and is constantly trying new brands and types of beer. However, they will also have their favorites, and want to have a few of each kind of beer on-hand at all times. Some of the bottles (a connoisseur will only buy beer in glass bottles or a keg) will have a hard time fitting on a refrigerator shelf, and having a separate home for their favorite beverage would be a handy gift.
A mini-keg cooler, also known as a kegerator. For the real beer lover, they will always have on-tap their favorite day-to-day beer in a 5-gallon mini-keg. But keeping that puppy cold for an extended period of time can be a real trick, and unless they are a skilled plumber, a potential disaster in the making. A cooler for their favorite ale, stout, or pilsner might bring joy to their day.
A subscription to a beer-of-the-month club. Yes, these exist, and with the advent of the internet, your choices are widespread. A few quick keystrokes on any major search engine will bring up a few dozen different choices, with a shipping point near your beer maven. Generally, a six pack a month of a variety of new brews to sample will bring a smile to their face as they remember this gift.
A subscription to a brewing magazine, along with a do-it-yourself brewing kit. Most true beer lovers will try their hand at some point at brewing their own. Well, take the guesswork out of it for them with a prepackaged kit and a recipe book, as well as a subscription to a brewer’s magazine that will be chockfull of tips and hints for their next brewing experiment. Who knows, maybe they’ll come up with the next big thing in the microbrewery circuit, and they’ll have you to thank. You can also buy the kits with a subscription service for the ingredients, so they can try a new brew every month!
These five gift suggestions for the beer lover are obviously not all-inclusive. However, with these ideas in mind, you are bound to find the perfect gift for the beer lover dear to your heart. And who knows, perhaps they will turn you into a connoisseur of beer, too.
